The first solution combines the themes of stress and shadows together. The figure in white portrays sadness and stress, they are the human in this scenario therefore shown in the foreground. The second figure is the humans shadow and represents anger and the idea of lashing out, although in the background the shadows size shows how powerful his emotion is. This solution represents the hidden emotions apparent in people outlining duality in human nature. I believe the use of a monochromatic colour scheme was a good choice as adding any more colour may make the poster struggle to deliver the core message.
The second solution uses shadows cast on the child’s face to represent his emotions. In particular I used the colour red as it represents anger and aggression. His lifeless face parallels his strong emotions implying he’s hiding his true emotions. Although this is a simplified version, I think that the minimalistic aspect of this concept does make the shadows stand out more.
The third solution involves angels and devils. This solution is based upon ‘The Creation of Adam’ a fresco painting by Michelangelo which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. In place of God is an angel and in place of Adam is a devil. The purpose of this solution is the portrayal of good and evil and the idea they are almost hand in hand.
The last solution involves hiding your appearance. The man in question is half hidden behind a mask not so dissimilar from his own face, however, the emotions on each face are opposite. The idea behind this solution is that the man uses masks to fake his emotions, or at least positive emotions. I found the mask necessary in order to incorporate both faces into the solution.
