The subject I have chosen as part of my project is the duality of human nature. To summarise, duality of human nature is the idea that every single human has good and evil within them. I chose this subject as it is an interest of mine and I believe everyone should be aware of topics such as this as it is a part of human nature. This subject apparent in many areas of media from movies to books and manifests in many different forms. I believe this is a subject that would translate well into a poster and would be easy to add additions to. Due to the nature of the subject I think that the poster is relevant to most people, to be specific the majority of the audience would be from teens to elderly with a emphasis on English literature and social science students.

Above is an example of ‘Duality of Human Nature’ in the form of a poster for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is one of the most well known and prominent examples of duality. This poster shows how both entities co-exist yet the latter, representing bad in man, is hidden away in the shadows. The difference between the two sides of the man is shown through physical appearance and posture, Jekyll is stood tall and kept while Hyde is hunched over and unkempt.

The duality in this poster is shown on the gun of this soldier. The stock of the gun features a peace sign which can be assumed was put there by the soldier. The placement of the sign seems wrong as it is juxtaposed by the gun itself. Pairing a weapon used for violence and a sign representing peace implies two different sides to the soldier.
